MERIT: Mapping Employment Risks and Improving Transparency
We are happy to announce the launch of our newest project for the year 2025: “Mapping Employment Risks and Improving Transparency (MERIT)”. The project, funded by the Southeastern European Leadership for Development and Integrity (SELDI), aims to reduce unfair practices in the recruitment processes of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in North Macedonia by promoting transparency, merit-based recruitment, and fostering accountability. State-owned enterprises (SOE’s) play a crucial role in public administration, yet recruitment processes often face challenges related to nepotism and political influence. Our project seeks to investigate these issues, provide evidence-based recommendations, and support SOEs in adopting fairer and more transparent hiring practices. The overarching goal is to enhance public trust in SOEs and improve the integrity of public sector hiring processes, thereby contributing to good governance and aligning with EU standards for public administration.
