We are hiring staff in the framework of the project “Empowering Vulnerable Communities: Catalysing Climate Action Through Climate Assemblies”. This is a 24-month project funded by the Delegation of the European Union to North Macedonia – EEAS from the European Union Programme for Human Rights and Democracy (Reference: EuropeAid/180645/DD/ACT/MK).
The overall objective of this project is to improve conditions for participatory democracy and create a better environment for civil society to contribute to fostering the EU-led inclusive and socially just energy transition in North Macedonia.
Specific Objective: (1) Empowered energy-vulnerable citizens to share their options and assess, co-develop, and implement energy and climate policies that affect them; (2) Climate Assemblies are explored as new governance models in the energy transition
The project intends to achieve the following intermediate outcomes:
- Organize five citizen Climate Assemblies in five different cities/ municipalities across N. Macedonia
- Developing recommendations adjusted to the issues of each municipality
- Submit the recommendations to the municipalities
Target groups
- About 150 Energy vulnerable citizens from five different municipalities
Final beneficiaries
- Civil society organizations working on energy and climate affairs
The intervention logic has been conceived to strengthen the participatory democracy and the enabling environment for civil society to contribute to fostering the EU-led inclusive and socially just energy transition in North Macedonia. The Project team will act as unique under the coordination of the Project Manager and along the joint decision procedures envisaged within the project. The Project also has to consider the due cross-cutting issues:
- ∙ Gender equality and promotion of equal opportunities;
- ∙ Protection and promotion of ethnic minority rights;
- ∙ Democratic standards, anti-discriminatory practices and good governance;
- ∙ Protection of environment and preservation of natural resources and biodiversity; ∙ Integration of persons with physical and mental disabilities (accessible tourism).
Open Positions:
Project Manager (1 position for period of 24 months – 80%)
Researcher ((1 position for period of 24 months – 50%)
Finance Officer (1 position for period of 24 months – 30%)
Note:
The staff members will be hired by ZIP Institute (Skopje, North Macedonia) thus should be able to work in Republic of North Macedonia.
