Katerina Jakimovska from ZIP Institute was among the 150 participants from civil society at the conference International Conference “Civil Society and Beyond: A Joint Dialogue on the European Path” held in Belgrade on 25th and 26th February 2016. The Conference was organized by the European Movement International and European Movement in Serbia, in partnership with TACSO and the Serbian European Integration Office.
The conference was held at the National Assembly of Republic of Serbia and opened by high level representatives from the Serbian Government: the Prime Minister Mr. Aleksandar Vucic, the President of the National Assembly of Republic of Serbia, Mrs. Maja Gojkovic, the President of the European Movement, Mr. Mihajlo Crnobrnja, Head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Serbia, H.E. Michael Davenport and the President of the European Movement International, Mr. Jo Leinen MEP.
The plenary sessions at the Conference focused on the issues:
- Multilateral Dialogue between EU and Enlargement Countries;
- Civil Society Heard: National Conventions and Consultation Mechanisms in European Integration Process; and
- Lessons Learnt in EU accession: How to regain Enlargement Momentum.
The organized workshops were divided in several topics such as: Consultation and Cooperation during the EU accession process; Monitoring Change; and Programming of EU Financial Assistance – where mechanisms for CS involvement in the programming of EU assistance were discussed. The topics of the second day workshops were: Rule of Law; Economic Governance and Competitiveness and Public Administration Reform.
The World Café was the closing event of the conference and it brought together all the participants in order to discuss added value activities and joint actions on the above mentioned topics.
