Project Description: SHELEADS Energy
SHELEADS Energy is a 12-month leadership and empowerment project, funded by the Embassy of Germany in Skopje and the Embassy of Canada in Skopje, designed to support young women in becoming active leaders in North Macedonia’s energy transition.
The project will engage 30 female students from engineering and energy-related faculties in Skopje, Tetovo, Bitola, and Štip, offering them practical knowledge, mentorship, and professional development opportunities that complement their technical education.
At the heart of the project is the Women in Energy Leadership Academy, a structured program combining six workshops, mentorship support, networking activities, visibility actions, and a study visit. Through these activities, participants will strengthen their leadership, advocacy, communication, and entrepreneurship skills while gaining a deeper understanding of opportunities and challenges within the energy sector.
The project will also establish a supportive network of mentors, professionals, universities, policymakers, and companies, connecting young women with role models and real career pathways in the clean energy field. By showcasing the achievements of participants and raising awareness about the importance of women’s participation in the green transition, SHELEADS Energy will contribute to greater visibility, confidence, and inclusion of women in the sector.
Ultimately, SHELEADS Energy aims to help close the gender gap in energy by preparing and recognizing young women as future leaders of North Macedonia’s sustainable, inclusive, and green development.
