Skopje Climate Assembly

The Skopje Climate Assembly is the first citizen’s assembly to take place in North Macedonia. The Climate Assembly is a deliberative democracy mechanism designed to engage citizens of North Macedonia in discussing and providing recommendations on issues related to air pollution and environmental policy.

This issue-specific approach is highly relevant, given the significant air quality challenges faced by Skopje and the potential health and environmental consequences. A crucial aspect of this Assembly is the commitment for government officials from the City of Skopje and the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning to respond to the recommendations.
